Green Bean Almondine Recipe: Ingredients

  • 1 lb. fresh green beans
  • 1T. butter
  • 1t. sea salt
  • 1/4t. freshly ground pepper 
  • 1/4c. slivered almonds

How to Make Green Bean Almondine

  1. Let butter melt in skillet over low heat, while you wash and trim beans. Do not use your largest burner. 
  2. Add beans to pan. 
  3. Sprinkle with the salt and pepper. 
  4. Toss with a spatula to coat.
  5. Cover pan and cook 15 minutes, adding almonds and stirring to coat, halfway through cooking time.

Green Bean Almondine: Tips for Success

  • It takes a good pan to get Almondines just right. I like this American made, heirloom quality skillet (view here)
  • Bacon fat makes a tasty substitute for butter. 
  • If you use thin, sliced almonds, lightly toast them in the skillet, and set aside, before you do anything else. Add them to the recipe during the last 5 minutes.
