Swiss Hamburger Recipe: Ingredients

  • 2T. bacon fat
  • 4 hamburger patties 
  • 1/4c. diced green pepper 
  • 1/4c. diced onion
  • 16 oz. canned tomatoes

How to Make Swiss Hamburger

  1. Melt bacon fat in skillet over medium-high heat. 
  2. Season beef with salt and pepper, before adding to skillet. 
  3. Brown both sides of patties (about five minutes per side). 
  4. Remove meat to plate. Reduce heat to lowest. Add onions to pan, and gently brown to caramelize, 10-20 minutes. Add peppers the last five minutes. 
  5. Pour tomatoes into pan. Heat long enough to scrape up the browned bits and blend them into your sauce. 
  6. Return meat to pan and cook in low, covered, for half an hour. 
  7. Serve with mashed potatoes, noodles, or pasta.
