Chocolate Goodies are a confection comprised of a corn flakes covered with melted chocolate.
Without further ado, here’s the Chocolate Goodies recipe (a more compact, printable version appears below):
Chocolate Goodies Recipe: Ingredients
- 4 cups corn flakes cereal
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup coconut
- 1 cup walnuts
How to Make Filled Chocolate Goodies
- Line your largest baking sheet (I use this US-made pan, view here) with parchment paper. Alternatively, you can use two standard size sheets.
- Using a large, heatproof bowl (such as this made-in-USA beauty), melt chocolate gently in microwave.
- Stir the rest of the ingredients into the melted chocolate.
- Working quickly, drop by teaspoonsful onto prepared pan. The old-time way to do this is by working with two teaspoons. Many of us, these days, simply use a food scoop (view here).
- As soon as the chocolate hardens, they’re ready to serve. You can hurry them up in the fridge or even the freezer.
- After removing from the sheets, place in a large container or tin. You can repurpose the parchment by cutting to fit, placing sheets of it to separate layers. Store in a cool, dry place.

Chocolate Goodies Tips for Success
- Melting chocolate is simple, but it can suddenly go wrong. Read my article on easy, successful chocolate melting (article is here).
- Chocolate and cereal are two ingredients that may not produce good results in hot, humid weather. Chocolate doesn’t set right. Cereal loses its crispness rapidly. Because of this, wait until autumn and winter to enjoy a batch of Chocolate Goodies.
- Stale corn flakes can be saved! The best way to do this is to spread them out on your largest baking sheet and toast for a few minutes in a 275° preheated oven. Thin items burn suddenly, so stay in the kitchen and check them often (say, after the first 3 minutes and every minute after that). If you smell them, pull them out immediately.
- This recipe was developed to use up old cereal; but never cook with cereal, or any ingredient, that has become rancid. If your corn flakes have an unappetizing, “off” smell, throw them away.
- A popular way to make these is by dropping them into greased muffin papers.
